Not Pleased So Striker Wings, Cavani Rate Signal Ready Leave PSG
Paris – Edinson Cavani again voiced displeasure with his playing position at Paris Saint-Germain. About his future at PSG, the Uruguayan striker also did not give a straight answer.
Since moving to PSG in 2013 ago, Cavani is rarely installed in his favorite position, the center forward. He is more often played as an attacking wing in a 4-3-3 formation.
Cavani had to play in that position because of coach Laurent Blanc prefer Zlatan Ibrahimovic to fill the center forward slot. The new Cavani moved to the middle when Ibrahimović injured or suspended.
Although rarely played in his favorite position, Cavani remains productive. He packed 50 goals in 91 appearances in uniform Les Parisiens.
However, Cavani did not want to keep playing on the wing. He sure could be sharper if fitted as center forward.
“I’ll score more goals if I play as a central striker,” Cavani said in an interview with the French edition of GQ magazine.
“When I arrived in Paris, I had to shift to the wing. But, people do not understand how the influence of the change on my performance,” added the former striker Palermo and Napoli.
“I want to play as a center forward and my performance will surely increase in that position. It is a role that I like,” he said.
Cavani’s displeasure with his position at PSG made the 28-year-old player was widely rumored to be resigned this summer. He recently been linked with Juventus and Manchester United.
“Will I stay at PSG? Maybe so, maybe not. I do not know what will happen,” he said.
