Kolo Toure Retirement of national team
Yamoussoukro – After successfully won the African Cup, Kolo Toure decided to retire from the national team of Ivory Coast. This year 15 years of togetherness even the Liverpool defender with Les Elephants.
Kolo desire to be champion of the African Cup finally fulfilled. Ivory Coast became champion last week after beating Ghana in the final.
Titel obtained by a shootout after the match ended 0-0. Kolo successfully contributed one goal in a match that ended with the victory of the Ivory Coast 9-8.
Success was considered Kolo as the right moment to retire. Although, he admits is not easy to make that decision.
“It’s an emotional moment, I have to say to the public that it is time to say goodbye,” Kolo Toure said as quoted by Soccerway.
“My main goal is to win the tournament. I admit this to be a difficult decision.
“I really love this country and especially to football, but at one point, there is time to stop,” said the player who turns 34 next month.
Before the Africa Cup champion, Kolo never deliver the Ivory Coast to the African Cup finals. Namely in 2006 in Egypt. Since first joining Kolo appeared in two World Cups. For 15 years, Kolo record 117 caps and made seven goals.
